* lib, ipcp: Revise fast path and flow interfacesdimitri staessens2016-10-041-514/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | IPCPs can now use ap_init() to initialize the memory. All flows are accessed using flow descriptors, this greatly simplifies IPCP development. Reverts the fast path to a single ap_rbuff per process. Splits lib/ipcp into irmd/ipcp and lib/ipcp-dev. Adds a lib/shim-dev holding tailored functions for shims. Moves the buffer_t to utils.h. Fixes the shim-eth-llc length field. Removes the flow from shared.h. Fixes #4 Fixes #5
* lib: ipcp: Decouple flow_deallocdimitri staessens2016-09-021-33/+35
| | | | Sending a dealloc to the irmd moved to its own call.
* irmd, lib: Rebuild the IRMd data modeldimitri staessens2016-08-211-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The complete data model inside the IRMd has been restructured. The bind operation was revised to allow binding of AP and AP instances and register those names with different DIFs (see "irm bind" for details). Server applications require to call ap_init with a server name argument, client application that do not the be reachable over any DIF can call ap_init(NULL). Calling ap_init for a client with a specified name will not have adverse consequences for the application, but will consume unnecessary resources in the IRMd. Application servers can now be started at any point after the IRMd has been started. Starting servers, binding AP names and registering names in DIFs can be performed in any order that does not defy temporal logic. Supports naming instances by their pid. In case of IPCP Instances created with the IRM tool, the name assigned during "irm ipcp create" can be used. All the changes required updates in the tools.
* lib, irmd, ipcp: Add socket timeoutSander Vrijders2016-08-101-0/+8
| | | | | | This will add a timeout to the socket so that a process won't be blocked by the actions of the process with which it is communicating over the socket.
* ipcp, irmd, lib: Notify IRMd upon IPCP initializationSander Vrijders2016-08-101-0/+25
| | | | | | This will notify the IRMd when the IPCP is initialized and ready to receive messages. Previously a bootstrap could fail since the IPCP was not listening to the socket yet.
* lib: Fix cleanup for sending messagesdimitri staessens2016-08-091-18/+4
| | | | Cleanup handlers were not always popped.
* lib: ipcp.c: Fix memleak upon cancellationdimitri staessens2016-08-041-8/+14

* lib: Remove N-1 DIF param from enroll operationSander Vrijders2016-07-121-7/+5
| | | | | | This removes the parameter N-1 DIF from the enroll operation. IPCPs should just allocate a flow to a DIF name and let the N-1 DIF resolve it.
* ipcpd: Deprecate ipcp_reg/ipcp_unregdimitri staessens2016-07-081-65/+0

* ouroboros: Use ouroboros errno.hdimitri staessens2016-07-071-1/+1
| | | | | All includes of <errno.h> within ouroboros are replaced with the ouroboros errno.
* lib, irmd, ipcpd: Provide the feature to write to logsSander Vrijders2016-07-061-0/+12
| | | | | | | | | | Writing output to log files is now enabled by default. Logs are written to <INSTALL_PREFIX>/var/log/ouroboros, which is created on install. There is a log file for the irmd and one per IPCP. To still get (colored) output on stdout, provide the --stdout switch when starting the irmd. Fixes #17
* lib: Change invalid pid to -1dimitri staessens2016-07-051-1/+1
| | | | | | | | The stack used pid 0 (the scheduler) to indicate an invalid process instance, probably as a leftover from the deprecated application process instance id. Using -1 is a better solution. Fixes #16.
* lib: Provide first implementation of revised CDAPSander Vrijders2016-07-051-3/+5
| | | | | | | | This commit introduces a first version of the revised CDAP specification. CACEP (for authentication purposes) has been separated from CDAP. Application developers may use CDAP if they find it useful. Within Ouroboros CDAP will be used to perform operations on the RIB of an IPCP.
* lib, irmd, ipcpd: Change pid to apiSander Vrijders2016-06-281-43/+43
| | | | Changes the variable name as well to API instead of PID.
* lib, irmd, ipcpd: Change of IRM APISander Vrijders2016-06-281-3/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This changes the IRM API after discussions with Dimitri. The register operation is now split into a bind and register operation. The same for unregister; unbind and unregister. PIDs are now used as the application instance name. A name for a PID is only provided for scriptability in bash. It is therefore also no longer passed down to the IPCP. Every operation on an IPCP through the IRM API has to use the PID. Quering of the PIDs by name is possible. The IRM tool has been updated to use this new API as well. A subcommand 'ipcp' has been added for operations that take effect on IPCPs only. Fixes #12
* build: Fix installation prefixSander Vrijders2016-06-271-3/+3
| | | | | | The installation prefix was taking a trailing backslash, while it is common not to do so. Fixed it so that any trailing backslash is removed by the compilation and installation scripts.
* lib: Change DA header to NSMSander Vrijders2016-06-221-8/+5
| | | | | | Functionality that was previously thought to be part of the DIF Allocator is actually namespace management. Hence the file has been renamed and the API updated.
* lib, irmd: Change sockets and shm pathSander Vrijders2016-06-201-1/+1
| | | | | | Reverting from previous commit. Even when running Ouroboros sandboxed, the sockets and shared memory should be created in the default system paths.
* build: Change install directories and set correct permissionsSander Vrijders2016-06-201-4/+2
| | | | | | | | | This sets the correct install directories for all the binaries, library and header files. It also sets the right permissions on the sockets and shared memory so that regular users can also use the ouroboros library. Root privileges are required to run the irmd. Fixes #7

| * lib, irmd, tools, ipcpd: updates to dev API.dimitri staessens2016-06-131-6/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The registration function has been moved to the irm tool, applications now need to be registered by an administrator. Currently only supports one instance per registered name, and an AP can be registered under only one name. The irmd can now start a registered server application on demand. For the full functionality of the tool, execute "irm register". AP name removed from flow allocation. Flow allocation does not send the source ap name as it is quite useless. The accept() call now only returns the AE name.
* | ipcpd: Adds a shim over IEEE 802.2 over IEEE 802.3Sander Vrijders2016-06-141-0/+2
|/ | | | | This adds a shim over LLC over Ethernet. It uses the raw socket API to send messages directly over an interface.
* ipcpd: IPCP over local memorydimitri staessens2016-05-281-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This introduces an IPC process that relays data between two local AP's over the shm_du_map. Only configuration it has is a DIF name. It required small modification elsewhere: lib: added support for the IPCP_LOCAL type irm: added support for the IPCP_LOCAL type dif_config: added the IPCP_LOCAL type tools: added support for the IPCP_LOCAL type
* lib, ipcpd, irmd: Add QoS cube definitionSander Vrijders2016-05-141-15/+17
| | | | | | | | | | This adds the QoS cube definition, which is an enum to select which QoS is needed in the IPCP. An application has to use the qos_spec in qos.h to define what it needs. The IRMd will map this unto a qos cube definition. Some headers are now also no longer installed on the system, since they are only to be used within the irmd and ipcps.
* irmd: introduced lockingdimitri staessens2016-05-101-2/+0
| | | | | This commit adds locking to the IRMd with a single global lock. It also fixes some issues in cleaning up the daemon.
* lib: changed port_id to intdimitri staessens2016-05-081-10/+10
| | | | | returning -1 as uint32_t leads to bugs. also changed types in GPB to sint to use zigzag encoding.
* irmd: flow allocation and fast pathdimitri staessens2016-05-071-31/+34
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit has a first implementation of flow allocation (the "slow path") and read/write (the "fast path") for ouroboros. It provides basic but unstable communications over the shared memory. It required a lot of changes all over the stack, and fixes a number of previously undetected issues. This PR still need heavy revision regarding data model, locking and cleanup. lib/dev: modifications to the API. It now uses an ap_init() call to set the AP name and sets the Instance ID to the pid of the process. It also binds the AP to the shared memory and creates tables for mappings in the fast path. A call to ap_fini() releases the resources. lib/shm_ap_rbuff: added ring buffer for data exchange between processes in the fast path. It passes an index in the shm_du_map. lib/shm_du_map: rewrote API to work with calls from dev.c. Garbage collector added. Tests updated to new API. ipcpd/ipcp-data: removed everything related to flows, as these are universal for all ap's and kept in ap_data (dev.c), or similar structs for shim ipcps. shim-udp: added flow allocator and read/write functions and shm elements. irmd: revised data model and structures necessary for flow allocation. tools: echo updated to new dev.h API. messaging system was updated to comply with new flow allocation messages. All exchanges use pid and port_id to bootstrap the fast path.
* lib: instance ID's are now set to the process PIDdimitri staessens2016-04-261-17/+4
| | | | | | | | All instance-id's in ouroboros will be set by the system to the pid of the process associated with this application process instance. This means that the user has no way to choose the instance id's. Function calls that assumed manually defined instance id's have been replaced throughout the system.
* irmd: reg/unreg whatevercast namesdimitri staessens2016-04-221-36/+31
| | | | | | | | | | | | Unregistering ap's now works. An AP now registers/unregisters its AP-I by sending its AP name and its pid to the IRMd. The IPCPs register whatevercast names. An AP name is currently mapped on a whatevercast name represented by the same string literal. The IRMd allows registration of only one AP-I per AP. A Name Space Management system is needed in the processing system so we can resolve this completely. Changing the stack to register whatevercast names required some changes all over the ipcpd implemented and in the library.
* ipcpd: initial IPC processesdimitri staessens2016-04-181-60/+82
| | | | | | | | | | | Basic functions for implementation of IPC processes, and implementation of core functions of the shim IPCP over UDP. Updates to the build system to compile these IPC processes, as well as some fixes in the irmd (rudimentary capturing exit signals) and some fixes in the library, mainly relating to the messaging. Basic implementation of creation / bootstrapping / deletion of the shim UDP. Placeholders for other functions.
* lib, irmd, irm: Add dif_configSander Vrijders2016-04-081-8/+8
| | | | | | | | | This adds dif_config to the prototype, in which one is able to specify the parameters a DIF should have. The bootstrap operation of an IPCP takes this as parameter and is oblivious to whether it is a shim or a normal IPCP. The dif_config struct is also correctly serialized and deserialized and passed opaquely to the correct IPCP. This IPCP is in charge of deserializing it correctly.
* lib: Implementation of flow related opsSander Vrijders2016-03-311-32/+317
| | | | | | This adds the messages that are sent to the IPCPs related to flows. Some messages are also sent to the IRMd (e.g. when a new flow arrives).
* lib, irmd: Update communication with IRMdSander Vrijders2016-03-301-5/+3
| | | | | All messages sent to the IRMd now also get a reply back with the result of the operation.
* lib: renamed rina_name_t to instance_name_tdimitri staessens2016-03-301-5/+5
| | | | | all functions taking a char * ap_name and uint id now take either a instance_name_t or instance_name_t *
* lib: Add ipcp_messages proto fileSander Vrijders2016-03-281-38/+56
| | | | | This removes the custom ser/des methods for communicating with the IPCP daemon and also uses GPB instead.
* lib: Adds IRMd messages for the dev.h API callsSander Vrijders2016-03-241-15/+3
| | | | | | This adds several messages for the dev.h API calls to communicate with the IRM daemon. The deserializing of these messages is still missing and the irmd hasn't been updated with them either.
* lib: Clean up memleaksSander Vrijders2016-03-171-4/+10
| | | | | Some allocations were not freed in case the creation of a new IPCP failed.
* lib: Add communication with IPCP daemonSander Vrijders2016-03-171-4/+104
| | | | | This adds the messages required for the IRMd to communicate with an IPC Process through the library.
* irmd, lib: Create and destroy IPC ProcessesSander Vrijders2016-03-151-10/+93
| | | | | | This adds the functionality to create and destroy IPCPs. Upon creation a new process is forked and execve'd. Upon destruction the IPCP is destroyed by killing it with SIGTERM.
* lib: Add helpers for RINA namesSander Vrijders2016-03-111-11/+12
| | | | This adds helper functions for RINA names, to aid with handling them.
* irmd, lib: Replace stubs in irmdSander Vrijders2016-03-091-0/+63
This replaces the stubs in the irmd and calls the actual IPCP operations from the library. It also calls the DIF Allocator API in one of the operations.
