* lib: shm_du_map: Clean sdus upon exitdimitri staessens2016-07-061-0/+1
| | | | | | | | When an application closes the shm_du_map, it will clean all remaining sdu's for that application. Adds a function to clean the shm_du_map on close. Fixes #20.
* irmd: Collect spawned processesdimitri staessens2016-07-061-28/+101
| | | | | | | The irmd will now collect terminated child processes (autostarted api's and ipcpd's). Upon exit, all autostarted api's will be killed. Fixes #19.
* irmd: Rename registry functionsdimitri staessens2016-07-061-7/+8
| | | | | Reflects that the functions (dis)associate an application instance from/with a name and not remove it from the registry entirely.
* lib: Change invalid pid to -1dimitri staessens2016-07-051-8/+12
| | | | | | | | The stack used pid 0 (the scheduler) to indicate an invalid process instance, probably as a leftover from the deprecated application process instance id. Using -1 is a better solution. Fixes #16.
* irmd: Move registry to its own sourcesdimitri staessens2016-07-051-632/+22
| | | | | All registry functionality has been extracted from the IRMd to improve modularity and legibility of the code.
* lib, irmd: Fix clang and CI compilation errorsSander Vrijders2016-07-051-1/+1
| | | | | | This commit fixes some errors reported during compilation that were undiscovered by my gcc compiler but found by clang, and errors not found on my system but found by the CI platform.

| * lib: irm: search for ap using PATH variabledimitri staessens2016-07-041-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The bind function will search all directories specified in the PATH variable for the ap fed to the irm bind command and check if it is executable by the uid executing irm bind command. Adds missing info logs for the bind/unbind and unreg operations in the irmd.
* | lib: Provide first implementation of revised CDAPSander Vrijders2016-07-051-4/+4
|/ | | | | | | | This commit introduces a first version of the revised CDAP specification. CACEP (for authentication purposes) has been separated from CDAP. Application developers may use CDAP if they find it useful. Within Ouroboros CDAP will be used to perform operations on the RIB of an IPCP.
* irmd: fix missing gbp messagesdimitri staessens2016-07-031-3/+12
| | | | | When empty, gpb does not send a message. Functions that return null will now send a message with return value set to -1.
* irmd, tools: checks on binarydimitri staessens2016-07-031-1/+13
| | | | | | | The bind tool and the auto_execute function will check if the binary exists and is executable. Return value of auto_execute corrected to pid_t
* lib: robust locking in shared memory and crash recoverydimitri staessens2016-07-021-4/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This PR enhances the shared memory providing recovery if a process crashes. It adds a SHM_DU_TIMEOUT_MICROS variable, setting an expiration time for SDU's when shared memory is full. If an application doesn't read a blocking SDU within this time, the shared memory will be cleansed of all SDU's for this application and the application's rbuff will be cleared. Some refactoring of the API's. Fixed wrong pthread checks in IRMd. Fixes #13 Fixes #14

* lib, irmd, ipcpd: Change pid to apiSander Vrijders2016-06-281-99/+101
| | | | Changes the variable name as well to API instead of PID.
* lib, irmd, ipcpd: Change of IRM APISander Vrijders2016-06-281-163/+209
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This changes the IRM API after discussions with Dimitri. The register operation is now split into a bind and register operation. The same for unregister; unbind and unregister. PIDs are now used as the application instance name. A name for a PID is only provided for scriptability in bash. It is therefore also no longer passed down to the IPCP. Every operation on an IPCP through the IRM API has to use the PID. Quering of the PIDs by name is possible. The IRM tool has been updated to use this new API as well. A subcommand 'ipcp' has been added for operations that take effect on IPCPs only. Fixes #12
* irmd: bugfixesdimitri staessens2016-06-271-24/+33
| | | | | | | | IPCP destruction was erroneously removed. This has been fixed. Autostart of application is fixed, it would trigger even with an instance waiting for flows. Moved SIGPIPE handler to the top to allow shutting down the IRMD when running with valgrind (which triggers SIGPIPE).

| * lib: Change DA header to NSMSander Vrijders2016-06-221-13/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | Functionality that was previously thought to be part of the DIF Allocator is actually namespace management. Hence the file has been renamed and the API updated.
* | irmd: Fixes comments on 668a32cdimitri staessens2016-06-241-56/+42
| | | | | | | | | | Also revised log messages. The core functions use err/warn/info, all other functions only have dbg.
* | irmd: name space managementdimitri staessens2016-06-241-254/+817
|/ | | | | | | irmd registry rebuilt from the ground up. Now supports * multiple APs to accept flows for the same registered name * multiple instances per registered name. * irm can select a specific process to wake up
* lib, irmd, ipcp: robust mutexesdimitri staessens2016-06-211-222/+242
| | | | | | | | Update to POSIX 200112L to allow use of robust mutexes in the shm_du_map. Removed the implementation of the rw_lock in favor of pthread_rwlock_t. Placeholder for the shm_du_map_sanitize function.
* lib, irmd: Change sockets and shm pathSander Vrijders2016-06-201-1/+3
| | | | | | Reverting from previous commit. Even when running Ouroboros sandboxed, the sockets and shared memory should be created in the default system paths.
* build: Change install directories and set correct permissionsSander Vrijders2016-06-201-3/+25
| | | | | | | | | This sets the correct install directories for all the binaries, library and header files. It also sets the right permissions on the sockets and shared memory so that regular users can also use the ouroboros library. Root privileges are required to run the irmd. Fixes #7
* Merged in dstaesse/ouroboros/be-pipe (pull request #132)Sander Vrijders2016-06-191-0/+1
|\ | | | | | | irmd: fix erroneus SIGPIPE log
| * irmd: fix erroneus SIGPIPE logdimitri staessens2016-06-191-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The IRMd would always report a SIGPIPE because of a missing break statement. Close #9
* | irmd: improved cleanup of flowsdimitri staessens2016-06-191-4/+14
|/ | | | | If the AP exits, the IRMd will deallocate the flow. If an IPCP dies, the IRMd will remove the stale resources.
* irmd: cleanup of flowsdimitri staessens2016-06-181-1/+11
| | | | | Port_id's on pending flows that time out are now released. Flows that are stale because one of the parent processes exited are removed.
* irmd, lib: use shm_du_map as lockfile.dimitri staessens2016-06-171-11/+19
| | | | | | | | | | | | Added the pid of the irmd to the shm_du_map. The IRMd will check for an existing shm_du_map. If there is an existing file, it will exit if the owner IRMd is running or remove it if the owner IRMd is not running. Also simplifies calculation of the shm_du_map pointers and corrects exiting calls for the IRMd. Fixes #8.
* irmd: clean up stale pending flowsdimitri staessens2016-06-161-6/+60
| | | | | | | Adds a thread that cleans up stale pending flows. Compile time option IRMD_FLOW_TIMEOUT allows setting the timeout period. Default timeout is 5 seconds. The thread wakes up 20 times per period to check the flows.

* irmd: cond_var to wait for ap to acceptdimitri staessens2016-06-141-4/+13
| | | | | A condition variable is now used to wait for an auto-executed AP to accept the requested flow.
* lib, irmd, tools, ipcpd: updates to dev API.dimitri staessens2016-06-131-116/+135
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The registration function has been moved to the irm tool, applications now need to be registered by an administrator. Currently only supports one instance per registered name, and an AP can be registered under only one name. The irmd can now start a registered server application on demand. For the full functionality of the tool, execute "irm register". AP name removed from flow allocation. Flow allocation does not send the source ap name as it is quite useless. The accept() call now only returns the AE name.
* irmd: Add wildcarding of DIF namesSander Vrijders2016-05-291-65/+51
| | | | | This adds wildcarding of DIF names so that application developers can for instance specify home.* to specify all home DIFs.
* irmd: use the shm_du_map as a uniqueness checkdimitri staessens2016-05-221-2/+7
| | | | | This makes sure only one shm_du_map is running in the system. Starting a second irmd would invalidate the shared memory map.
* irmd: Change read lock to write lockSander Vrijders2016-05-221-1/+1
| | | | | A read lock was taken instead of a write lock, which resulted in double frees.
* lib, ipcpd, irmd: fixes deallocation and fast pathdimitri staessens2016-05-221-4/+2
| | | | | | The fast path has been rewritten to have certainty to read the correct flow. Deallocation will not release port_id's or fd's until they are explicitly released locally.
* lib, irmd, ipcpd: Flow deallocation over shim UDPdimitri staessens2016-05-211-9/+28
| | | | | | The shim UDP now supports deallocating a flow end-to-end. Contains some stability fixes for flow allocation and some missing close() calls in lib/sockets.
* Implementation of a full flow allocator for the shim UDP.dimitri staessens2016-05-181-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | It uses UDP port 0x0D1F on all hosts to send and receive flow allocation messages. It supports communication between server and client AP over a single shim IPCP. Implementation of full flow deallocation is pending. Both the client and the server still have to call flow_dealloc();
* irmd: fixed bad locksdimitri staessens2016-05-171-4/+2

* irmd: fixed unlock after freedimitri staessens2016-05-161-2/+4
| | | | unlock is now called before the object is destroyed.
* irmd: new locking implementationdimitri staessens2016-05-161-175/+221
| | | | | | | This locking should be more consistent, It now has three locks, one guarding flows and port_id's, one guarding the registered apps and ipcps, and one guarding the overall state of the irmd. There are two additional mutexes guarding the condition variables.
* lib: irmd: fixed flow deallocationdimitri staessens2016-05-151-0/+2
| | | | | Port_id's weren't correctly released. Also removes remaining debug logs from the library.
* lib, ipcpd, irmd: Add QoS cube definitionSander Vrijders2016-05-141-8/+5
| | | | | | | | | | This adds the QoS cube definition, which is an enum to select which QoS is needed in the IPCP. An application has to use the qos_spec in qos.h to define what it needs. The IRMd will map this unto a qos cube definition. Some headers are now also no longer installed on the system, since they are only to be used within the irmd and ipcps.
* irmd: fixed bad locking and added cleanupdimitri staessens2016-05-121-1/+6
| | | | flow_alloc_res had missing cleanup, added missing unlock.
* irmd: cleanupdimitri staessens2016-05-121-12/+115
| | | | improved cleanup when killing the IRMd.
* irmd: added dedicated locks for signalingdimitri staessens2016-05-101-9/+40
| | | | | it's more robust to use dedicated locks for pthread_cond_signal so no other threads can be waiting for the mutex.
* irmd: fixed potential data racesdimitri staessens2016-05-101-8/+10
| | | | | bmp_allocate should be called under lock. Helgrind does not give warnings anymore during flow allocation.
