* lib, ipcp: Revise fast path and flow interfacesdimitri staessens2016-10-0413-161/+174
| | | | | | | | | | | | IPCPs can now use ap_init() to initialize the memory. All flows are accessed using flow descriptors, this greatly simplifies IPCP development. Reverts the fast path to a single ap_rbuff per process. Splits lib/ipcp into irmd/ipcp and lib/ipcp-dev. Adds a lib/shim-dev holding tailored functions for shims. Moves the buffer_t to utils.h. Fixes the shim-eth-llc length field. Removes the flow from shared.h. Fixes #4 Fixes #5

| * ipcpd: normal: Add operations to get and set the PCISander Vrijders2016-09-073-78/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This adds the operations needed in the normal IPCP to get and set the Protocol Control Information. It allows to allocate or release space in the current DU. The struct pci can be serialized into newly allocate space. Vice versa, a struct pci can be deserialized given a DU. It allows for decreasing the TTL in the DU and for calculating the CRC32. The TTL and CRC32 can now be selected when creating a new DIF.

* | lib: dev: Provide a set of fds to flow_selectdimitri staessens2016-09-064-7/+70
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The flow_select call now takes as a parameter a flow_set_t, which specifies a set of flow descriptors that will unblock the select call when an SDU for one of them arrives. The select call has been moved to its own header.

* / lib: Change rdrbuff API to use correct typesSander Vrijders2016-09-011-8/+8
|/ | | | | | The head and tail alloc and release operations were taking an int to identify the idx instead of a ssize_t. The size was a ssize_t instead of a size_t.
* lib, ipcp: Compile on Apple junkdimitri staessens2016-08-301-0/+22
| | | | | | Disables robust mutexes and clock attributes for condition variables for compatibility with OSX (SUSv2). Implements clock_gettime and adds some defines for OSX compatibility in time_utils.
* lib: Refactor shm_du_map to shm_rdrbuffdimitri staessens2016-08-295-78/+92
| | | | | | | | | | The shm_du_map is renamed to shm_rdrbuff to reflect the Random Deletion Ringbuffer used in the implementation. The close_on_exit call is removed and SDUs are cleaned up by the application in the ap_fini() call. This required a non-blocking peek() operation in the shm_ap_rbuff. Some initial implementation for future support of qos cubes has been added to the shm_rdrbuff.
* ipcpd: Revised lockingdimitri staessens2016-08-241-0/+1
| | | | | | The state lock was reverted to an rwlock to avoid interference of management functions with the fast path. IPCPs now close without calling unsafe functions in the signal handler.
* irm: Deprecate BIND_AP_LOCdimitri staessens2016-08-231-1/+0
| | | | Location-dependent names should be managed by a higher-level NMS.
* irmd, lib: Rebuild the IRMd data modeldimitri staessens2016-08-214-14/+25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The complete data model inside the IRMd has been restructured. The bind operation was revised to allow binding of AP and AP instances and register those names with different DIFs (see "irm bind" for details). Server applications require to call ap_init with a server name argument, client application that do not the be reachable over any DIF can call ap_init(NULL). Calling ap_init for a client with a specified name will not have adverse consequences for the application, but will consume unnecessary resources in the IRMd. Application servers can now be started at any point after the IRMd has been started. Starting servers, binding AP names and registering names in DIFs can be performed in any order that does not defy temporal logic. Supports naming instances by their pid. In case of IPCP Instances created with the IRM tool, the name assigned during "irm ipcp create" can be used. All the changes required updates in the tools.
* ipcpd: normal: Handle enrollment repliesSander Vrijders2016-08-191-4/+8
| | | | | | | | This adds a condition variable with a timeout to the CDAP request so that we can respond correctly to the answer from the remote. It also adds a timeout to the condition variable waiting on completion of enrollment. Furthermore, for every CDAP callback a new thread is now spawned, to avoid deadlocking in case a callback is stuck.
* lib: Add wrappers for PythonSander Vrijders2016-08-163-0/+88
| | | | | | This adds SWIG to the build and wraps the Ouroboros library so that it can be called through Python scripts. If either SWIG or Python cannot be found, no bindings are generated.

|\ | | | | | | lib, irmd: Bind AP instances to AP_subsets
| * lib, irmd: Bind AP instances to AP_subsetsdimitri staessens2016-08-101-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This call will allow grouping AP instances of a certain AP together which are configured identically. Adds the bind operation to dev and updates the applications to make use of this call. Flow_alloc is now only called with the pid and doesn't send the apn anymore.
* | lib, irmd, ipcp: Add socket timeoutSander Vrijders2016-08-102-0/+2

| * ipcp, irmd, lib: Notify IRMd upon IPCP initializationSander Vrijders2016-08-101-0/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | This will notify the IRMd when the IPCP is initialized and ready to receive messages. Previously a bootstrap could fail since the IPCP was not listening to the socket yet.
* | irmd: Graceful shutdowndimitri staessens2016-08-101-0/+1
|/ | | | | | Threads from the threadpool will now check the state of the IRMd and exit gracefully without a need to cancel them. This avoids the unsafe call of pthread_cancel in the signal handler.
* lib: Various fixesdimitri staessens2016-08-091-1/+0
| | | | | Fix missing set of api upon flow_alloc. Various locking fixes.
* ipcpd: normal: Allow exchange of static DIF informationSander Vrijders2016-08-082-11/+18
| | | | | | This adds the functionality of exchanging the static DIF information between 2 DIF members. After exchange the enrollment is stopped, and the IPCP that initiated enrollment transitions to the enrolled state.
* lib, tools: Add POSIX version to source filesSander Vrijders2016-08-082-1/+2
| | | | | Sometimes the POSIX version was not set in source files. This caused the compiler to not find the timespec struct, since we are using C89.
* lib: Revise blocking I/Odimitri staessens2016-08-033-2/+10
| | | | | | | | | Blocking I/O now uses condition variables in the shared memory instead of busy waiting. Timeouts can be specified. This requires the size of the rbuffs and du_map to be the same, to guarantee that when the shm_du_map is not full, the ap_rbuffs can't be full either. Added the timeout option to the flow for future use.
* lib: dev: Add select-like calldimitri staessens2016-08-033-7/+11
| | | | | | | This adds a flow_select() call that will sleep until an SDU can be read on a flow. It returns the file descriptor for which an SDU is ready. It takes as optional argument a timespec struct to specify a timeout.

| * | ipcpd: normal: Provide initial steps for enrollmentSander Vrijders2016-07-272-2/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This provides the normal IPCP with bootstrapping and the initial steps for enrollment. Next step is actually reacting to an enrollment request and sending the data transfer constants.
* | | lib: Portability to FreeBSDdimitri staessens2016-07-291-3/+7
| |/ |/| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Various portability fixes for FreeBSD. POSIX requires shm file names to start with a "/" to be portable. lseek(2) can be undefined on POSIX shm, replaced with ftruncate(2). IRMd check on existing lockfile more portable. FreeBSD 11.0 is preferred as it natively supports robust mutexes. Full working LLC implementation pending.
* | irmd: Revised flow allocationdimitri staessens2016-07-271-1/+2
|/ | | | | | | | | Flow allocation requests and registered api states revised so all states are tracked with a condition variable. This is a more reliable approach and improves stability of flow allocation. Some other refactoring was also done, such as renaming port_map_entry to irm_flow and hiding some internal structures of the registry.
* ipcpd: normal: Establish N-1 management flowsSander Vrijders2016-07-142-7/+8
| | | | | | | | | This adds the intial implementation of establishing management N-1 flows between normal IPCPs. On calling fmgr_mgmt_flow, a management flow will be setup to a certain destination IPCP. After flow allocation, the fd is handed to the RIB manager. The flow manager also listens for incoming flow requests. In case they are management flows, they are handed to the RIB manager, otherwise to the FRCT.
* lib: Remove N-1 DIF param from enroll operationSander Vrijders2016-07-121-2/+1
| | | | | | This removes the parameter N-1 DIF from the enroll operation. IPCPs should just allocate a flow to a DIF name and let the N-1 DIF resolve it.
* lib: shm_du_map: PCI allocation / deallocationdimitri staessens2016-07-111-11/+13
| | | | | | Correct implementation of allocation for the Protocol Control Information. Also removes stale code checking for a corner case when the du map still wrapped multi-block SDU's.
* irmd: Refactor of registrydimitri staessens2016-07-111-0/+2
| | | | | | Easier names for the functions.The registry now uses a single list to keep track of applications (bindings), moved the auto_exec state per binding.
* ipcpd: Deprecate ipcp_reg/ipcp_unregdimitri staessens2016-07-081-7/+0

* irmd: Prioritize local ipcp for local flowsdimitri staessens2016-07-071-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | For locally registered processes, the IRMd will first look for the local, then the normal, then the shim-udp. It will look for a normal, a shim-eth-llc and ultimately a shim-udp for non-local destinations. It does not yet check if a remote destination is actually known in a DIF. Fixes #18.
* lib: Add lockfiledimitri staessens2016-07-073-6/+41
| | | | | | | | | | | | The pid of the IRMd is stored in a lockfile in shared memory. This makes checking if the IRMd is running independent of the configuration, as previously the IRMd pid was stored at the end of the shm_du_map, which could not be read by an IRMd that would be compiled with different configuration options. Also corrects some unnecessary includes Fixes #21.
* lib:irmd: Fix logs and irm_createdimitri staessens2016-07-061-1/+2
| | | | | | | The irm_create() function called irmd_destroy before some key values were initialized. Logs cleanup was missing.

| * lib: Fix crapped up indentationSander Vrijders2016-07-061-2/+2
| | | | | | | | This fixes some crapped up indentation in logs.h
| * lib, irmd, ipcpd: Provide the feature to write to logsSander Vrijders2016-07-062-14/+34
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Writing output to log files is now enabled by default. Logs are written to <INSTALL_PREFIX>/var/log/ouroboros, which is created on install. There is a log file for the irmd and one per IPCP. To still get (colored) output on stdout, provide the --stdout switch when starting the irmd. Fixes #17
